The unique genetic diversity that is prevalent in South, North, and East Asia provides a valuable source for clinical insights that will be able to enhance the understanding of disease biology. In order to help accelerate population specific precision medicine, Macrogen got involved with Genome Asia 100K in 2016, and contributed to sequence 2,000 genomes.

“Macrogen wants to focus on the Asian people for many reasons, and one is to help the medically neglected  Asian communities in different countries. We want to use the information to help in the future,” says Dr. Jeong-sun Seo, the Chairman of Macrogen. He states “By using our skills and experience, we can help other Asian countries through genome project. Eventually, we would like to connect the genomic data with clinical data in order to revolutionize the healthcare system in Asia.”
